Labour Day : ISTANA The President's House Singapore

May 25, 2017
A little off topic of what I usually write about or we discuss here. But an entry on a day's activity exploring the big house in the middle of the city, but hidden and tucked away in a lushy hill side is a great way share a Thursday evening's writings. Plus this is a long over due post.

Labour Day, 1st of May 2017. We decided to get dressed and head on towards Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. Got off and walked for a short bit before reaching our destination. Parking could be tough especially since it's a public holiday. So if you ever consider visiting the Istana, best to catch a cab ride or simply take the train or bus.

Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents. Other visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of $2 per person.

If you're making your way to Singapore in the upcoming months, you might want to check your schedules to fit these following dates that will allow your entry into the ISTANA - The President's House.

Hari Raya Puasa (Actual Day)  -  25 June 2017 (Sunday)
National Day  -  30 July 2017 (Sunday)
Deepavali (Actual Day)  -  18 October 2017 (Wednesday)

Opening hours are usually from 8.30am to 6.00pm.

Personally encourage all visitors to carry the following for their visit to be enjoyable.

  • Bottled water - You will need plenty
  • Umbrella - No surrounding building to give you shelter from the scorching sun
  • Sunnies
  • Comfy footwear
  • Food / Snacks
  • Mat - If you would like to have a picnic
  • SPF 50 or more
  • Camera
